Lace doilie with symbols of good luck and fortune. Cutwork is the technique of cutting holes in the fabric and mending the edges with buttonhole stitches - arranged in a circle at the center of this example. A variety of other techniques are exhibited, which is typical for Normandy lace, including needlepoint stitching to make four leaf clovers, lucky horeshoes and the central flower design.
